THE ART OF THE PERFECT FIT
Your Guide for Perfect Measurements
For the flawless drape of a lehenga or the tailored silhouette of a kurta, accuracy is paramount.
THE POSTURE
Stand straight in a relaxed, natural posture. Avoid slouching or tensing your muscles to ensure the garment sits naturally on your frame.
THE TOOLS
Always use a standard flexible measuring tape. Measure over the fitted undergarments you plan to wear with the final outfit for the most accurate silhouette.
THE TECHNIQUE
Ensure the tape is always parallel to the floor and lies flat against your skin. It should be snug but not tight. (Pro Tip: Ask a friend to assist!)
BUST
Measure around the fullest part of your chest and across the widest part of your back. Keep the tape straight across the back. This is vital for all blouses and tops.
UNDERBUST
Measure directly underneath your bust, where the band of a bra would sit. This ensures a fitted, supportive look. (Crucial for Saree Blouses & Crop Tops).
WAIST
Locate the narrowest part of your torso, typically just above the navel. This is your natural waistline. Wrap the tape measure snugly around this area.
HIPS
Stand with your feet together. Measure around the fullest and widest part of your hips and rear.
SHOULDER
(Ideally measured with assistance) Measure horizontally across your upper back, from the tip of one shoulder bone to the tip of the other.
ARMHOLE
Wrap the tape measure vertically around the circumference of your shoulder joint/armpit. Keep it comfortable to allow for easy movement.
SLEEVE LENGTH
Place the tape at the edge of your shoulder (where you ended the shoulder measurement) and measure down your arm to your desired length (e.g., mid-bicep, elbow, or wrist bone).
NECK DEPTHS
(Front & Back) For custom necklines, measure diagonally from the highest point of your shoulder (at the neck joint) down toward the center of your chest or back to where you want the neckline to end.
LENGTH (Kurta/Top)
Stand straight. Place the tape at the center point of your shoulder and let it drop straight down over your bust to your desired hemline.
LENGTH (Lehenga/Skirt)
Start the tape at your natural waistline and measure straight down to the floor. (Note: Account for heels so your lehenga just grazes the floor.)
